Custom Fitting Spinal Brace Program for HealthCare Professionals

Program Details

This program is intended to provide specialized training to healthcare professionals who fit patients with Prefabricated spinal braces.  The program reviews anatomical and physiological foundations of spinal brace fitting, and specific patient abnormalities that require custom fitting of braces to accommodate.  It reviews the mechanisms of action of spinal braces and how they are applied to patients.  The program provides a detailed explanation of potential brace modifications that require expertise, why and when they are necessary and how to make the modifications on each VQ OrthoCare Spinal Brace to reduce complications, maximize patient outcomes and improve compliance.

Program Details

This program consists of two courses:

  • Physiological Foundations of Spinal Bracing
  • Custom Fitting VQ OrthoCare Spinal Braces

Physiological Foundations of Spinal Bracing provides detailed definitions of anatomical structures of the spine, their functions and how they relate to spinal bracing.  The course also covers common conditions and injuries to the spine and their mechanisms, common abnormalities of the spine to observe in patients and accommodate when performing spinal brace fitting as well common surgical procedures performed to treat back injuries that often require spinal braces.

Custom Fitting VQ OrthoCare Spinal Braces defines custom fitting, what qualifies as custom fitting and how it is different from custom manufactured.  This course will explain when custom fitting is necessary and what abnormalities require custom fitting.  The course will identify the different ways the Ascent LSO and TLSO, Sleeq Max TLSO and Cyperspine TLSOx4 braces can be custom fit to a particular patient and how those modifications are performed.

Passing:
Participants must pass with a score of 80% or better to receive a completion certificate.  CEUs are not available for this course at this time.

Custom Fitting Knee Brace Program for HealthCare Professionals

Program Details

This program is intended to provide specialized training to healthcare professionals who fit patients with Prefabricated knee braces.  The program reviews anatomical and physiological foundations of knee brace fitting, and specific patient abnormalities that require custom fitting of braces to accommodate.  It reviews the differences between different types of braces, the mechanisms of action of each and how they are applied to patients.  The program provides a detailed explanation of potential brace modifications that require expertise, why and when they are necessary and how to make the modifications on each VQ OrthoCare Knee Brace to reduce complications, maximize patient outcomes and improve compliance.

This program consists of two courses:

  • Physiological Foundations of Knee Bracing
  • Custom Fitting VQ OrthoCare Knee Braces

Basic Anatomy and Physiology covers anatomical directions, planes and movements in the body as well as medical terminology.  This course also covers basic systems of the body related to orthopedic conditions, such as bones muscles, nerves, tendons and ligaments.  It is a prerequisite for

Physiological Foundations of Knee Bracing provides detailed definitions of anatomical structures of the knee, their functions and how they relate to knee bracing.  The course also covers common conditions and injuries to the knee and their mechanisms as well as common anatomical abnormalities to observe in patients and accommodate when performing knee brace fitting.

Custom Fitting VQ OrthoCare Knee Braces defines custom fitting, what qualifies as custom fitting and how it is different from custom manufactured.  This course will explain when custom fitting is necessary and what abnormalities require custom fitting.  The course will identify the different ways the OActive2 and Catalyst Propel OA knee braces can be custom fit to a particular patient and how those modifications are performed.

  • Focused on surgical and rehabilitative procedures associated with common disease states in orthopedic, rehabilitation and pain management

Therapeutic Advances

  • Taught by industry professionals

  • Focused exclusively on the therapeutic modalities relevant to orthopedics

  • Pain management and rehabilitation

Clinical Advances Curriculum

Pathways to Education’s Clinical Advances courses are provided as a courtesy for payor professionals and healthcare providers.  Each is designed to maximize attendees’ knowledge of advances in orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation practices and therapeutic interventions.

In order to provide our audience with the most up-to-date educational experience, Clinical Advances courses are taught by board-certified Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Physical and Occupational therapists.

Each Clinical Advances course includes the following:

  • History and etiology of the specific disease state
  • Clinical examinations, tests or other diagnostics routinely performed to confirm the patient’s diagnosis
  • Advances in orthopedic and spine surgery, including a discussion of potential risks and complications
  • Rehabilitation of postoperative or chronic pain patients
  • Routine treatment modalities prescribed

Our speakers are local area medical professional with relevant clinical experience in the specific disease state. All are highly regarded in the payor and medical communities, with extensive expertise regarding clinical outcomes associated with orthopedic conditions, pain management, and rehabilitation.

Therapeutic Advances Curriculum

In order to provide our audience with the most up-to-date educational experience, Therapeutic Advances courses are
taught by industry professionals experienced in the application
of therapeutic modalities.

Each Therapeutic Advances course includes the following:

  • History behind the use of therapeutic modalities
  • Clinical indications for use of these modalities
  • Competitive analysis and HCPCS coding
  • Patient application, including a discussion of potential risks and contraindications
