Helping people with knee osteoarthritis live active lives
If you are finding traditional treatments for osteoarthritis of the knee ineffective or undesirable, talk with your doctor about the BioniCare Knee Device. This unique electrical stimulation treatment is the first such non-drug, non-invasive option for osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. Many patients find that drugs and injections aren’t bringing the relief they need and they aren’t ready or medically able to have knee replacement surgery. If you are among this group, the BioniCare Knee Device offers another option. It is the first and only patented proprietary signal and system demonstrated to be effective and safe in multiple clinical studies. More than 4,000 physicians have prescribed this unique treatment for more than 40,000 patients.
How the BioniCare Knee Device treats knee OA without the risks of drugs or surgery
The BioniCare Knee Device is effective for patients with even moderate and severe knee osteoarthritis (OA). The BioniCare Device relieves knee OA pain and symptoms by delivering to the knee joint a unique low level pulsed signal that is not felt by the patient.
Indicated specifically for knee OA
The stimulator received final FDA clearance in 2003, indicated “as an adjunctive therapy for relieving pain and symptoms associated with osteoarthritis of the knee and for overall improvement of the knee as assessed by the physician’s global assessment (clinical studies).” This personal home-use system allows patients to take treatments during their day or as they sleep. Treatments are individualized to each patient’s body as they adjust the level of stimulation.
Unlike all others
BioniCare’s patented signal was designed specifically for the treatment of pain and symptoms of knee OA and for overall improvement of the knee as judged by physicians. It is not to be confused with other stimulators, including a TENS device that provides temporary general-purpose pain relief.

Find out if the BioniCare Knee Device may be right for you
Check if any of these three situations describe you. If so, you may want to discuss this BioniCare treatment with your doctor.
- Moderate and severe knee OA. BioniCare is the first FDA-cleared stimulator specifically for people suffering from pain and symptoms of knee OA.
- Intolerant to OA medications or wishing to avoid drug dependency. For many patients NSAIDs and injections don’t bring the relief they need, or the side effects are worse than their benefits.
- Unwilling or medically unqualified to have total knee replacement surgery (TKR). This is the non-invasive option. BioniCare Knee Device patients were two-thirds less likely to have TKR in a 4-year clinical study.
Key to effective treatments: patient commitment to use
Knee osteoarthritis can take years to develop, so it can’t be overcome in a few days or weeks. Consequently, this treatment requires a commitment by patients to frequency and amount of use.
Based on clinical trial findings, daily treatments are key. Ideally, a treatment should last at least eight hours, with 6-10 hours a good range. To accomplish this, many patients take treatments at night while sleeping for consistent, convenient compliance.
Treatments are expected to be taken over months. In fact, the best results are reported only after patients log more than 750 hours of use.
The most thoroughly researched non-drug, non-invasive knee osteoarthritis treatment
Five scientific studies in 88 clinical settings with 1,200 patients published in peer-reviewed medical journal articles have established comprehensive and convincing evidence for the BioniCare Knee Device’s benefits for knee osteoarthritis.
Study shows relief of pain and symptoms
BioniCare-treated patients showed 130% improvement over placebo in the Physician Global Evaluation, a 120% improvement over placebo in the Patient’s Evaluation of Pain and Symptoms. In a addition, patients were 2/3rds less likely to have a total knee replacement when treated with Bionicare.
