IRVINE, Calif. – January 29, 2007 –VQ OrthoCare, a global provider of medical solutions for bone, joint and soft tissue conditions, today announced the launch of its new Catalyst line of off-the-shelf ligament knee braces. Available in three configurations to accommodate individual patient anatomies and activity levels, the Catalyst braces are designed to vastly improve the overall brace wearing experience for patients with ligament damage, deficiency and instability.
The Catalyst launch also marks the debut of VQ OrthoCare’s It Fits™ Technology – a design innovation that enables each knee brace to accommodate individual patient anatomies and provide the ultimate in fit, range of motion, suspension and comfort. It Fits™ Technology helps to ensure a continuous custom fit and superior ligament protection by automatically adapting to anatomical changes patients may experience and leading to improved patient compliance, more positive patient outcomes and increased levels of patient satisfaction.
“We are pleased to introduce the state-of-the-art Catalyst line of knee braces, which deliver unsurpassed versatility, stability and protection for patients returning to activities ranging from the daily routine to contact sports,” said James W. Knape, CEO of VQ OrthoCare. “With the Catalyst line, we have introduced five new products to the marketplace during the last 12 months, proving that rehabilitation is at the heart of our business.”
The Catalyst series of braces includes the Catalyst™, Catalyst Contact™ and Catalyst X™ braces.
With its unique Active Thigh Cuff™ (ATC), the Catalyst™ model delivers the ultimate in comfort and suspension for patients. A VQ OrthoCare patented design feature, the ATC absorbs soft tissue profile changes in the thigh during activity to provide a consistent skeletal force and improved suspension. The flexibility of the ATC allows the patient to perform with a wider range of motion; in field surveys, most patients were able to bend their leg into a deep flexion or a full squatting position without pain, pinching or brace resistance.
The Catalyst Contact™ model incorporates the auto-conform aluminum thigh shell, promoting a custom fit and the increased stability required for contact sports. The Catalyst X™ model features open medial aluminum shells that provide increased clearance and comfort on the medial aspect of the thigh and calf, making it ideal for activities such as skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, motocross, BMX and horseback riding.
All three models feature VQ OrthoCare’s innovative Tibial Docking System™ that conforms to each patient for secure tibial control and a comfortable fit. By accommodating the natural contours of the tibia, the Tibial Docking System relieves the often-cited problems of tibial crest sensitivity, pressure and friction associated with existing brace designs.
Catalyst™, Catalyst Contact™ and Catalyst X™ are available in multiple lengths and sizes. Replacement pads and straps and additional accessories are also available to further meet patient needs.
