VQ OrthoCare Introduces Portable Cold Therapy System

IRVINE, Calif. – February 7, 2007 –VQ OrthoCare, a global provider of medical solutions for bone, joint and soft-tissue conditions, today announced the addition of the VQ CoolCare™ cold therapy system to its extensive product offering.

VQ CoolCare’s innovative, portable design features a motorized unit that helps reduce pain and swelling by providing patients with up to seven hours of safe and effective continuous cold therapy. Consistent temperature control throughout the cooling pad is achieved through a semi-closed loop system that allows warm water to re-circulate at a constant flow rate with cooler water. For ease of patient use, VQ CoolCare also provides a single, easy-to-operate control; lightweight, spill-resistant design; and eight-quart capacity.

Cold therapy is used extensively to promote healing and relieve pain, muscle spasm, inflammation and edema by decreasing swelling and blood flow at the injury site. By applying cold therapy to the affected area, nerve impulses that transmit the sensation of pain to the patient are slowed down, and the patient’s sensation of pain is reduced considerably.

Representatives from VQ OrthoCare will be on hand at the upcoming 2007 annual meeting of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons to discuss VQ CoolCare and all of VQ OrthoCare’s patient-centered solutions.
