Job Title: Product Designer

Job Description:
The Product Designer will be responsible for the design and Project Management of innovative, high-quality, cost-effective products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects and project teams from initial concept to successful market release on time, within budget and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and collaborate with design team to brainstorm and sketch initial product concepts with a creative spark.
  • Consider and implement human factors / ergonomics in the design.
  • Generate ideas, timelines, budgets and costs for product’s development.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adjust project scope and goals quickly in response to project or customer demands.
  • Participate in supplier qualification activities, sourcing and selection with the regulatory and quality systems department in accordance with Company policies and procedures. 
  • Negotiate pricing, as needed.
  • Schedule and facilitate project design reviews in accordance with procedures.
  • Sketch & draw semi-final design mock-ups
  • Demonstrate necessary hands-on skill to generate prototypes & mockups for design meeting s or meetings with customers to generate feedback.
  • Possess strong solid modeling skills using SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Finalize design, product testing, and product specifications in accordance with procedures.
  • Manage and troubleshoot production startup, with support and feedback of manufacturing staff. 
  • Participate in post-market follow up activities with all appropriate cross-functional departments in accordance with procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Industrial Design Degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • Engineering degree/experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Additional 6+ years related experience or equivalent of education plus directly related education, training and experience
  • Preferred experience includes design experience in the medical device industry.
  • 2+ years experience using SolidWorks CAD system strongly recommended.
  • Expert in sketching, drawing and creating designs and mock-ups by hand, using CAD systems, and creative software programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
